The merger to create GBYSL Select is a very positive development for the soccer families in Reno/Tahoe.  GBYSL Select will bring teams and clubs together and will improve competitive soccer in the region.  This is a very positive development for youth soccer here in our community.

Randy Ritter

President, GBYSL

I am truly excited about the merger to form a new GBYSL Select Competitive League; bringing the soccer community of Northern Nevada and outlying areas back together for a more robust, healthy, and competitive playing environment

Great Basin Youth Soccer League, a non-profit with nearly 40 years of history, is proud to be able to offer GBYSL Select as the region’s premier competitive program, certain to benefit players and coaches alike for decades to come.  With over 5,000 recreational player registrations per year, GBYSL is the largest soccer league in Nevada.   In joining hands to create GBYSL Select, GBYSL continues in its service to the local youth and its commitment to offering soccer programs that benefit the community.

This merger will bring together the best of both organizations, creating a truly competitive local league to advance the development of youth soccer in the Reno/Tahoe area and foster an environment of healthy competition in the community.

GBYSL’s Gold Competitive League and Nevada Select Soccer League, the two leading competitive youth soccer leagues in the region, combined in June 2023 to merge as GBYSL Select League.  The merger creates a unified competitive soccer league that will benefit all youth soccer players in the Reno/Tahoe area.

GBYSL Select, a Reno/Tahoe competitive youth soccer league, will provide players and coaches the opportunity to compete against the region’s best club and independent teams in a single league featuring multiple age groups with divisions and brackets for various levels of play.  Teams and families that used to find it necessary to travel to Sacramento and beyond to play, will now have the opportunity to compete at that same level each week here at home.
